Bio:

Veena V started her radio career at the age of 15. She was picked to be one of the last 22 contestants out of thousands in the London's 95.8 Capital FM's radio star contest, where the winner was given the opportunity to present their own show on the station to over a million listeners. Unfortunately, she didn't win the competition but it made her even more determined to break into the radio industry.

At 16 Veena V started a work experience placement at Oxford 's 107.9FM. The tea making paid off, as Veena was offered to present the 1-6am slot. Her talents were quickly recognised and her dreams came true when she was given her very own show 6 days a week. Whilst Veena was at Oxford 's FM, the station became the fastest growing FM station in the UK in 2005.

At 17, she was featured in a national book called 'Money Money Money' which highlighted the fact that Veena was still at college studying for A Levles; Law, English language & literature and Business Studies whilst presenting on local radio and having a part time job; a very busy schedule for a teenager.

Just after Veena turned 18 her A Levels were done and she achieved two grade A's and a B. She wanted to further her radio career by moving to a London based station, many people doubted her but she was determined to succeed. A demo was sent to East London based Club Asia 963 & 972AM, within 24 hours she was called in for an interview. Veena has hosted at prestigious venues and events all over London including Hammersmith Palais and Apollo and writes for various national publications.

Since joining Club Asia, Veena V has become one of the most well know Asian personalities on radio. Listeners describe Veena as 'a breathe of fresh air' and their 'role model'. Her 2007 Q2 RAJAR (radio results) figures were 107,000 listeners, which weren't far behind the Breakfast and Drive Time figures, unusual in the radio industry.

The Veena V show has turned into a must listen and she has become known for exposing unsigned talent, she has an immense passion about supporting new artists and is determined to give them a platform to get themselves and their music heard. She has also grilled some of the biggest music acts in the world including artists like The Pussy Cat Dolls, Abrab-ul Haq, Obie Trice..

Veena V now hosts the Breakfast show on Asian FX, a new station for the West Midlands . She has achieved all of this at the tender age of 20.

Veena V will continue to work hard and will fulfil her dream of hosting a national Breakfast show one day.

Scott Muller, the Programme Director of Capital FM (2007) said:

'It's extremely rare to hear someone as unique and original as Veena V, she definitely has a big future ahead of her'
